Every one of Tookie's books is written and designed to raise a child's awareness of how important his or her choices can be -- whether to make friends with another person who is a gang member, who has a weapon, who is aggressive or unfair to other kids. Images in these books are large, colorful, and presented to illustrate each message in the text. Words bolded and in parentheses indicate that their definitions can be found in the Glossary, at the back of every book. At 7" wide and 8.5" in height, the paperback books are easy to manipulate. The covers are printed on stiff, glossy, durable paper which will endure handling by little hands quite well and resist liquids spilled on the outside of the books.

Taken together, the 8-book set provides an ethical compass which will give guidance, direction and support to children to make good choices in their everyday lives -- in school, at play, in the neighborhood, at home.
